Join us for a swinging 1930's party, inspired by the Golden Age of
mystery fiction and the mysteries of Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, Josephine Tey, Raymond Chandler,
and Dashiel Hammett. Our dance music will range from romantic waltzes to hot Swing, from elegant fox
trots, tangos, and Latin, to cool Blues. Sara and Swingtime will play the latest American tunes for your
dancing pleasure and, yes, they play waltzes as beautifully as they play Swing! There's something for
everyone.
At 7 pm, there will be a pre-ball workshop in "Fred & Ginger-style" slow foxtrot and
in East Coast Swing. Formal dancing continues from 8 pm to midnight with the fabulous Sara & Swingtime.
No partners required!
1930's costume or vintage or modern evening dress is admired but not required.
White tie or black tie optional. Society types, show people, and even private eyes are all welcome!
You working detectives may certainly attend in your suits and trench coats, but leave your "pieces" at home.
This is a classy event!
There will be a full bar outside the ballroom and a light snack buffet in the parlour
